Accessibility at The Jam Jar
The Jam Jar welcomes deaf and disabled customers to the venue, and we hope the following information is helpful. If further details are required please contact us. You can download the following information in PDF format here.
The Venue
Access:
The Jam Jar is located on the first floor. As such the main entrance has a flight of 19 stairs, with a handrail and a passing point halfway up. We also have a secondary entrance to the rear of the building that is significantly wider. This has 3 steps down, followed by 19 up to the first floor with a hand rail and passing point. This entrance is generally reserved for loading and access. Use of this entrance with the assistance of a staff member can be made available by request. Once inside the venue all facilities (toilets, bar, performance space) are all situated on the same floor.
Toilets:
The venue does not have an accessible toilet. There is however a private staff toilet for which access can be granted. This staff toilet is accessed to the right of the stage. The nearest accessible toilet is in Cabot Circus Car Park, approximately 200m from the front door.
Personal Assistants:
The Jam Jar is pleased to offer free tickets to personal assistants. We ask that we are contacted prior to the event so we may notify the staff on the night and allocate a guest list space. If showing up spontaneously, please explain this to the on duty manager and they will make an allowance providing we are below our legal capacity. If there are any special requirements we recommend that the personal assistant introduces themselves to the manager on duty upon arrival.
Strobe Lighting:
Generally we do not use strobe lighting, but if you are prone to strobe related seizures then please ask specifically so that we might ensure your safety.
Assistance Dogs:
Assistance dogs are welcome on site, however we request that you contact us prior to the event so staff can be informed. If your visit is spontaneous please let the manager know that you have an assistance dog with you.
